Mrs. Otis J. Courtney, a resident of Emporia since 1926, died Sunday afternoon, July 1, 1962, in Newman Memorial County Hospital at Emporia, Kansas.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel, conducted by Dr. William A. Hubbard, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, of Emporia.
Lydia M. Stanley, the daughter of Robert and Maria Cornelius Stanley, was born September 3, 1881, in Minneapolis, Kansas. She was married to Otis J. Courtney December 1, 1907, in Delphos, and they moved to Emporia in 1926. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church, and the Priscilla Sisters Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, who for many years was associated with the Lord Grain Company and Kansas Soya Products, Incorporated. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Paul Woods, of San Gabriel, California, and Mrs. Cecil Taylor, of Temple, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
