Fannie's mother, Rosannah Taylor (17 Jan 1826 - 19 May 1850), died when Fannie was a little less than 2 months shy of her 3rd birthday. Fannie was raised by her maternal grandparents, Francis and Sevalla Taylor.

Newspaper obituary. Pitcher, Oct. 24, 1928:

Frances Angelina Taylor was born July 4, 1847, and died Oct. 19, 1928 at Pitcher. In her early womanhood she taught school at various points In Madison and Onondaga counties. On Jan 5, 1871, she married L. Wheeler Swan of Pltcher and lived nearly all the rest of her life in this place. Surviving her are her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Davis of Pitcher. A son, Gurdon, died in 1893 at the age of seven years.

Mrs. Swan had been a faithful member of the Pitcher Baptist church for more than half a century and for many years served as organist and Sunday school teacher.

The funeral was held Sunday from the Pitcher Congregational church, the Baptist church being closed for interior repairs. Rev. W. B. McNinch officiated, assisted by Rev. J . B. Grant of the Congregational church. Interment was made in the Pltcher cemetery. The bearers were grand-nephews, Ernest Warner, A.D. Hakes, Leon Parks, Leon Maricle, Edwin Maricle, and Walter Eaton.

Among those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McElheny and Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Wadsworth of McGrawville, Mrs. Addie Anderson and Mrs. Merl Steward of Cortland, D. Z. Dickerson of Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cox of South Otselic, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Warren and Rev. Sylvester Tennant of German, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Tice, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Randall, Mr. and Mrs. Karl McLaughlin, Mr. and Mrs. John Sherrar and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis of Cincinnatus.
