Fred Sylvester Malone, Sr. was the son of Eugene Maylone and Margaret Gertrude Essex. He was the husband of Elva Henrietta Boyle, and the father of David Lee Malone, Fred Sylvester Malone Jr., Mary Ellen Malone, and Elizabeth Ann Malone.

Fred Sylvester Maylone, aged 37 years, died at 10 p.m. Saturday at his home, 708 East Fifth Street, after a seven months illness with complications.
He was born in Muscatine County, Sept. 26, 1905 and spent his entire life here with the exception of seven years when he resided at Dorchester, Massachusetts.
He was the son of Eugene and Gertrude Essex Maylone.
He married Elva Boyle in Muscatine on Sept. 27 1934.
Mr. Maylone was a member of the Friends church, of the Masonic A. F. and A. M. lodge of Louisiana Mo., of the Hotline Engineer union of Dorchester, Massachusetts and was formerly a crane operator at the naval dry docks at Dorchester.
Surviving are his wife, four children, Fred Sylvester Maylone, David Lee Maylone, Mary Ellen Maylone and Elizabeth Ann Maylone all at home, his mother Mrs. Eugene Maylone of Muscatine and 5 brothers, Joseph, John, Charles and Paul Maylone all of Muscatine and Robert Maylone of Davenport Iowa.
His father preceded him in death.
Funeral rites will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral home where the body is remaining. Burial will be in the Klein cemetery. He died Jan., 23, 1943.
He died from cancer of the throat, as told to his daughter, Betty, by her Aunt Edith Schuessler. He's buried at Klein Cemetery in Muscatine, Iowa.
For those who are researching the Malone/Maylone family, it's important to note here that Fred Sr. changed the spelling of his surname back to the original spelling of MALONE, instead of the newer MAYLONE spelling.
