Maria Margareta "Margaret" Zirkle married the farmer Michael Nehs Jr. on 6 Mar 1753 in the Lutheran Church in Telford, Montgomery Co., PA.

They lived with one another and 9 children resulted. Four died during her life time, so that she had 5 surviving her. These 5 children were named: Johannes, Dorothea, Adam B, Elizabeth and her twin sister Eva Nehs.

Her husband, Michael was born on 12 Jul 1730 in Germany and arrived with his parents, Michael Nehs Sr. and Anna Dorothea Pfeiffer, on the ship Brittanica from Rotterdam on 11 Sep 1731 in Philadelphia, PA.

About 1753 Michael and Margaret relocated from PA to a 360 acres tract of land on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Then in 1801, after Maria had passed, he relocated again with two of their children from Virginia to Tennessee.

In the year 1795 it pleased the Lord in His timing to visit a stroke upon her (Martgreta), after which she lived a year in complete helplessness, until on Sunday, the 10th of April 1796, it again pleased the Lord to let her suffer a second stroke, and on the following Wednesday, the 13th, she passed away. The following Friday, the 15th, she was buried in a decent manner.

Her husband died on 23 Jul 1815 in Greenville, Greene Co., TN and is buried in a Lutheran cemetery there.
