Mrs. J. A. Gilbreath Enters into Rest
Beloved Woman Dies at Her Home in Highland Park on Sunday Morning
An unusually sad death was that of Mrs. John A. Gilbreath, which occurred at 5 o'clock Sunday morning at her home in Highland Park after a short illness. Mrs. Gilbreath's mother, Mrs. M. J. Matthews, preceded her to the grave only a few days, having died here on the fourth day of April.
Since girlhood she had been a faithful member of the Methodist church and an exemplar of its teachings, a splendid Christian woman, beloved by all who knew her. Her husband died only a few months ago, but the following children survive: William H., Jeff T. and Rea Gilbreath, of Hereford, Texas; J. Floyd Gilbreath, of Jennings, La., Emmitt J. and Carl C. Gilbreath, of this county; Mrs. W.D. Patterson and Misses Jennie and Verna Gilbreath of Columbia, and the Rev. J. Earl Gilbreath of Knoxville, and Claude T. Gilbreath, of Los Angeles.
The funeral was conducted at the residence at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon by Dr. Richard L. Ownbey, her pastor. Interment was in the family lot. The following served as pall bearers: W. R. Gresham, O. J. Hill, J. H. Dinning, A. H. Smith, R. Lee Thomas and James Adkisson.
