Services for Fred Andrews, 94, Melrose, were held at 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Melrose. The Revs. Joe Bunce, David Crow and Lewis Johnson officiated.
Burial followed at Melrose Cemetery. Steed-Todd Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Andrews died Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Clovis High Plains Hospital. He was born July 3, 1897, in Cotton Gin, Texas. He moved to Melrose in 1929 where he was a farmer and rancher. He also worked for the ASCS office. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Melrose.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Willy and Bobbie Andrews, Melrose; one daughter, Mary Roberts, Melrose; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Lester Reece, Visalia, Calif., Eula Mae and Gene Morey, Roswell, and Fay and Leonard Rogers, Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Allie Burris, Texico, and Opal Andrews; six grandchildren, Deral Roberts, Laura Faye Gleasner, Bill Morey, Betty Vaughn, LaSydia Patterson and Donna McGee; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eraslee; two brothers and two sisters; and by a grandson, Fredie, who was killed in Vietnam.
Casket bearers were Melvin Calloway, Boots Pinkston, Glenn Gonser, Spec Gonser, Bill Dodd and Edgar Hough.
Honorary bearers were all other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
