Laureldale was where Glenn was born and
lived most of his life until his mother married
and they moved to Reading and lived there
until he enlisted in the Marines 28 November
1966,at a Philadelphia Recruiting Office,at the
age of 18 years,1 month and 20 days old.
Glenn left for Vietnam and upon arriving was
assigned to Charlie Company,1st Battalion,1st
Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division.It was
while the company was on a patrol of the Cam
Thah Island,3 kilometers east of Hoi An when
the Marines entered a hostile mine area,where
a mine was tripped that caused several mine
explosions killing 9 Marines and 1 Corpsman.
Glenn died as a result of the traumatic
amputation of both legs at the hips and of
fragmentation woundsto the head,face,neck,
chest,abdomen,both arms and right hand with
traumatic amputation of the 3rd and 4th digits
of the right hand.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his mother & stepfather,Mary L &
Roy H Tobias and his sister,Brenda L Baer of
820 Pear St,Reading,PA and his grandfather,
Oscar R Baer of 1003 Bellview Ave,Laureldale,PA.
