Bartto Jeffcoat Sr., formally of Columbia and Swansea, died Friday in Kingsprt, Tenn.
Mr. Jeffcoat was born in Swansea and moved first to Augusta, Ga., and then later to Churchill, Tenn.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Margie Jeffcoat; one daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. J.D. (Wilma) Chavous, Jr. of Augusta; two sons, Bartto Jeffcoat Jr and of Atlanta, Ga., and Tillman S. Jeffcoat of U.S. Navy, stationed at Norfolk, Va; one brother, Banks Jeffcoat of Wildwood, Fla.

Bartto Jeffcoat, Sr.
Bartto Jeffcoat, Sr., 67, of Mount Carmel died 7 a.m. Friday in Holston Valley Community Hospital.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Rogersville and a member the Eagles Club of Kingsport.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie Jones Jeffcoat: two sons, Bartto Jr. of Doraville, Ga., and T. S. Jeffcoat in the Navy; a daughter, Mrs. Wilma Chavous of Augusta, Ga.; brother Banks Jeffcoat, Dunnellon, Fl; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Roberto Ball, Kingsport and Mrs. Nina Parker, Washington D.C., a step-son, Daniel Crawford, Blackstone, Va.; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2p.m. Monday in Depews Chapel. Rev. Roland Light, Rev. A.H. Dillard, and Rev. H. L. Larkins will conduct the service. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with the Rogersville VFW Post conducting military rites at the grave.
The body will be taken to the home at 3p.m. Sunday from Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.
