Aloha Man Victim of Plane Crash
Lt. Robert W. Beattie Killed in Accident; Funeral Held Tuesday.
Lieutenant Robert W. Beattie, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Beattie of Aloha was killed April 13 when his P-39 plane from a California air field crashed on a routine flight.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Forest Grove Congregational church and interment was in the Fir Lawn cemetery at Hillsboro. Dr. Walter C. Giersbach, president of Pacific University and Rev. Newton Penberthy of the Hillsboro Episcopal church conducted the services.
Pacific Graduate - Lt. Beattie was graduated from Pacific University with honors in 1943 and received his wings at Williams Field, Chandler, Ariz. At Pacific he was a member of the Blue Key men's honorary society. He sttended Aloha-Huber grade school and Beaverton high school.
Surviving are his parenst and a brother, Ronald, seaman 2nd class in the coast guard.
He was born at Stambaugh, Mich., January 5, 1922
