Selma Hines Grissom, 87, of Quitman, died Sunday, February 14, 1999, in Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston. Services were held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 16, in Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stuart Toms and Bro. Larry Jinks officiating.
Burial was in Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Mr. Grissom was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and a veteran of World War II. He was very prominent in the A.A. Chapter of Jonesboro-Hodge and Ruston. Mr. Grissom was a member of the Red Bandana Dance Club and was a charter member of the J-H Riding Club.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Durbin Ponder Grissom of Quitman; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Don Atkins of Clay, Pat and James Cooper of Jonesboro, and Pat and Jerry Maxwell of Chatham; three sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Karen Ponder of Murphysboro, AR, Johnny and Rhonda Ponder , and Michael Ponder all of Jonesboro; two sisters, Zinnie M. Burns and Willie Grissom of Shreveport; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bobby Carson, J.W. Duck, Walter T. Gandy, B. Howard, Jerry Maxwell, and Ray Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Blanton, Delbert Clark, Ellis Hall, Harold Kelly, Joe Reed, Red "James" Woods.
