1st Lieutenant Bartholomew was serving with the 307th Bomb Group, 372nd Bomb
Squadron aboard B-24D Liberator #41-23986. He was killed when the bomber struck
a mountain near Wheeler Field, Oahu, Hawaii. Eight other airmen also perished.
