DEATH OF DR. R. M. WELLS - A Prominent Citizen of the County, and an Excellent Physician Passes Away - The funeral of Dr. R. M. Wells took place in this city yesterday afternoon at the residence of Col. R. B. Thomas on LaFayette street, and the interment was made in Oaklawn cemetery, at 2:30 o'clock, under the auspices of the Masonic Fraternity. Rev. E. J. Gates, pastor of the Plant City church, of which the deceased was a member, and Rev. J. B. Ley of this city, officiated. The deceased was in his 60th year of age, and was one of the most popular and highly esteemed gentlemen in South Florida, being one of the pioneer citizens of this part of the State, he was extensively known all through Florida. He served in the Florida Indian war and through the Civil War as a surgeon in the confederate army. Shortly after the close of the war he married Miss Jane Givens, oldest daughter of the venerable John T. Givens of this city. The wife and two children - J. S. Wells, of Danville, Ky., and Mrs. C. C.
