Mr. Larry Hollingsworth, Sr., age 72, of Centerpoint Road, Carrollton, passed away Friday, September 13, 2002 in an Atlanta Hospital. Mr. Hollingsworth was a U.S. Airforce Veteran and a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, he had also served as a Deacon at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mr. Hollingsworth had been active in civic and business in Carrollton for years including serving on the Hospital Authority from 1972 til 1981 and serving as its chairman in 1980 and 1981, being recognized as the Carrollton Jaycee's Boss of the Year in 1988, serving as Director of Carrollton Booster Club in 1965 and coaching Little League for a number of years. He began his building career in 1955 as Hollingsworth & Sons with his dad and brother and was instrumental in the construction of several local landmarks including First Baptist Church, Newnan (educational building), Douglasville Elementary School, GA School for the Deaf, Sewell Manufacturing Company, Cobb County (the first round building built for a school in Georgia), Acworth School, Carrollton High School Stadium, Tabernacle Baptist Church (building on Bradley Street), Carroll Convalescent Center, Carroll EMC, Carroll Tech, Neva Lomason Library, West Georgia National Bank, Trinity Baptist Church and nummerous renovations to Tanner Medical Center, he opened Hollingsworth Concrete Products Inc., in 1959. Memorial services will be Sunday, September 15, 2002 at 3 PM from Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. J. Howard Cobble and Dr. Paul Camp officiating. Music will be rendered by Donna Spivey. The family will receive friends immediately following the services in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity Baptist Church. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of arrangements.
