John Wesley Hester, Senior was born in Georgia or Alabama, in May 1861. He first married Susan Langley on May 21, 1893, in Cleburne County, Alabama. They had two children: John Wesley Hester, Junior (B. Oct 1890) and James Franklin "Jim" Hester (B. Apr 1894). After Susan's death in 1900, he remarried to Emma Triplett, and they had one daughter, Drucilla Hester (B. 1908). After Emma passed away in 1916, he remarried again to a woman named Minnie, who was about 30 years his junior. They had two children: Joseph Paul Hester, (B. Feb. 1929) and Minnie Maye Hester (B. About 1931). Minnie took the children to Florida, where Joe and Minnie attended a boarding school in West Palm Beach, and are later recorded living with different families.
John Wesley Hester, Sr. died in a Jackson, Mississippi hospital on April 18, 1941. He is buried in the Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery, where his daughter, son, and other family members are also now buried.

JOHN W. HESTER
Funeral services were held on April 19 at 10 a.m. from Antioch Church in Reform, Mississippi for John W. Hester, 80 years old, who passed away April 18 at a Jackson, Miss. hospital after an illness of 30 days. "Grandpa Hester" as he was known in the community in which he lived, was
a former citizen of Cleburne county, Alabama, having moved to Mississippi some years ago.
He joined the Lost Creek Baptist church at an early age and at the time of his death, was a member of the West View Baptist church in Tallapoosa, Ga.
He is survived by three sons, Wesley of Ackerman, Miss., Jim of Tallapoosa, Ga., and Joseph of Palm Beach, Fla., two daughters, Mrs. Newt Stephens of Ackerman, Miss., and Minnie Maye of Palm Beach, Fla.
Pallbearers were Floyce Hester, William Hester, Sam Allison, Odie Tollerson, Turner Stallings, Curtis Gammill and Howard Jones. Interment was in the Antioch church cemetery with Wise Brothers Service, Eupora, Miss. in charge.
