Funeral services for Tena Dougherty, 81, of Sulphur Springs, a former resident of Emory, will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, March 16 in Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Earl Kerns will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm Monday at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Interment will follow services in Dougherty Cemetery with Jim Shivers, Sam Holthe, Clint Gowin, Avon Coates, Sam Robinson and Robert Welch serving as pallbearers. John Holthe will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Dougherty died at 1 am Sunday, March 14, in Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Ace, the daughter of Thomas Arthur and Gracie Dowden Duke. She married Samuel Alford Dougherty on Feb. 23, 1931 in Durant, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Dougherty was a member of Dougherty Baptist Church in Emory.
Survivors include three daughters, Bobbye Blackmon of Sulphur Springs, Sammie Holthe of Altus, Okla., and Diane Clayton of Greenville; two sisters, Velma Bender of Baytown and Dorothy Tamborelle of Houston; three brothers, Thomas Arthur Duke, Jr. of Arlington, Bonnie Duke of Houston and Robert Edward Duke of Cashatta, La.; nine grandchildren, Cathy Colangelo, Cindy Carrick, Beverly Lykins, Lawrence Holthe, Sam Holthe, John Holthe, James Shivers, Greg Clayton and Clinton Paul Gowin; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, three sisters and one brother.
