Bert A. Brown Lt Col USAF (Ret) passed away November 15, 2007 at the age of 84.
He was born in Electra, TX November 21, 1922. He was an Eagle Scout and Junior Asst. Scoutmaster prior to entering the Army Air Corps in June 1943 as an aviation cadet. He received his wings at Luke Field, Arizona in 1944 and was assigned in England to a Troop Carrier Group flying C-47's. During WWII he towed gliders, dropped paratroopers and supplied ground forces with ammunition, gasoline and C-rations. Other overseas assignments included Brazil, France, Italy, Greece, Libya and the Philippines. He was a Command Pilot with over 8,000 hours in single and twin engine aircraft. He retired as Staff Operations Officer of the 375th Aeromedical Transport Wing at Scott AFB, Illinois.
After he retired in June 1966, he became a General Agent for Government Personnel Mutual Life Insurance Company in San Antonio, TX. He retired again in 1984 to play golf, travel, and fish. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Frances (Seeliger) Brown of Lockhart, Texas, daughter, Nan E. Timmons of Chico, CA and granddaughter Erin K. Timmons.
Graveside services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery Tuesday, November 27 at 1:30 p.m.
