Bert Brown born November 21, 1922 who married Mary Seeliger (born 06/02/1928)on September 24, 1951. 3. Jean Ruth Brown born April 22, 1925 who married Robert Zerkie on May 23, 1947.
Notes from Shirley Hemingway: In the 1980's I corresponded with Ruth Sheldon Brown Gieske who then lived in Electra, TX. She gave me names, dates & some addresses for her family... children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. She was a very nice lady & I appreciated everything she shared with me. Unfortunately after a surge of genealogical searching in the 80's I slowed down on my Hemingway(Sheldon) Family quest for information. And unfortunately I did not keep in contact with Ruth. In my renewed interest in genealogy, brought on by the "findagrave" site, I discovered a listing of the Electra, TX cemetery where I discovered that Ruth had died in 1990.
Here is an excerpt from a letter I received from Ruth dated Feb.19,1984:
"I married Ernest Brown (brother of Jessie Sheldon) in 1917. He was editor of the Electra News until his death in 1955 at which time I managed the paper until I sold it.
I married Al Gieseke in 1960, he was from Maryland, he died nine years ago. Both of my husbands were amateur radio operators (hams) as we are called. My son Ernie is also a ham, we have kept schedules for over forty years. I have been a ham for 56 years, it is a wonderful hobby...Ernie's wife, Bonnie, is also a ham so you see we are a "hammy" family."
I ran across a post card that Ruth had sent me in May, 1984. I had asked her if she knew anything about her great uncle Clinton Hemingway...she replied..."I don't know a thing about Clint, he is a mystery to me too but when grandma (Caroline Hemingway Sheldon)died aunt Mate (Mary Sheldon Carpenter) sent me a lovely berry spoon in a black leather case with a note saying 'Wedding present from Clint Hemingway' that is the only time I heard him mentioned. I gave the spoon to my daughter, Jeanie."
