Ali Hussam Abass Alrubaeye
Birth: unknown
Death: May 30, 2005

Iraqi Air Force Officer. He was the first Iraqi national to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. A pilot, he died with four United States Airmen aboard an Iraqi Air Force Comp Air 7SL aircraft. They had been on a mission to survey potential emergency landing sites in the region when the plane went down in the Diyala Province in eastern Iraq. Captain Abass and the unidentified remains of Maj. William Downs; Capt. Jeremy Fresques; Capt. Derek Argel, and Staff Sgt. Casey Crate were buried together in a silver casket with full military honors, including the presentation of Iraqi flags to Captain Abass' parents and widow by the Iraqi Air Force commander, Majajor General Kamal Abdul-Sattar Barzanjy. The 30-minute service included a procession by a United States Air Force band ahead of a caisson carrying the casket, a flyover and a 21-gun salute. He was 34 years old. (bio by: Debbie)
