Oren Blain was the son of William Blain and Fanny M. Hackett. Oren enlisted as a private at Marysville, California, October 24, 1864, and was mustered into Company B, 7th California Infantry, October 31. Private Blain was posted to Arizona Territory. He returned to California and was mustered out with his company at the Presidio of San Francisco April 26, 1866 (Orton, 771). After the war he settled in Ohio with his wife, Agnes Ann Knapp, and they had seven children. Oren filed for a Civil War veteran's pension in Ohio September 6, 1888, and received application No. 671,173 and certificate No. 537,106. Shortly after his death Agnes filed for a widow's pension September 15, 1920, and received application No. 1,163,505 and certificate No. 896,420. Family links: Spouse: Agnes Ann Knapp Blain
