Son of Henry and Lorena (Harden) Kasefang. Brother of Thomas Kasefang, Nellie Kasefang Robertson, Illa Kasefang Holt and George (1900-Bef 1910).

Will was a veteran of WWI, having served with the AEF in France. He was drafted from the Tennessee National Guard (Rank Private), Co. F, 3rd Tennessee Infantry at Johnson City, Tennessee on April 17, 1917. He became an active member of the American Expeditionary Force under General Pershing in late 1917. He was a Corporal in Company F 117th Infantry, 30 Division by the time he reached France. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in this company during his overseas service on October 26, 1918. His discharge papers indicated faithful and honorable service to the AEF, noting involvement in the trenches at Bullecourt, Estres, Busigny and Molam from May 11, 1918 to March 28, 1919. He returned home and was discharged at Camp Lee, Virginia on April 9, 1919.

His discharge papers indicate that when he enlisted in 1917 his occupation miner. He is noted as 5'11, having brown hair, lt. brown eyes and a light complexion.

Upon his return to Virginia, he reunited with Maude Minton and they were married within a year. He began working as a miner in Dante, Virginia, living in Bear Wallow with his family. He labored and lived in Dante, a company town owned by the Clinchfield Coal Company for many years. His daughter Ruth noted his hard work, saying that even during the Depression the family, while not having luxuries, never wanted for the necessities of life. A father of 4, he died in Dante Mine #3 in 1943 after a slate fall.
