Mrs. Madeline Jones Driskill, 86, Route 2, Rustburg died Friday, October 9, 1992 in the St. John's Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Alex Roger Driskill. She was born in Campbell Co. January 31, 1906, a daughter of the late Robert Washington Jones and Martha Evelyn Tweedy Jones. She was a member of Diamond Hill Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Driskill was retired from the Lynchburg School System. She was a first grade teacher at William Marvin Bass Elementary School, was on the faculties of T.C. Miller and Robert E. Lee Elementary Schools. Mrs. Driskill came to Lynchburg in 1953 from the Bedford County School System where she served as a teacher, a principal and an elementary supervisor. She attended the University of Virginia and received her degree from Radford College. She is a member of Delta Kappa Gramma Society International. Mrs. Driskill was a veteran of 46 years of teaching in the Virginia School System with 18 years in Lynchburg. She is survived by a son, Robert Hudnall Driskill of Rustburg; a daughter, Eva D. Gardner of Houston, Texas; a sister, Beatrice Higgens of Yucaipa, Calif.; a grandson, Robert Matthew Driskill. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Donald Wilkinson in the Diamond Hill Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Finch & Finch Funeral Home, Flynn Branch in Gladys tonight from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and other times at the residence.
