Phyllis Jones, age 63, was born Dec. 26, 1947 in Taylor, Arkansas to Billy and Georgia Fields.

Mom had colon surgery at Springhill Medical Center in Springhill, Louisiana, on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. She had a reaction to a medication while in I.C.U., and she was put on life support. She was airlifted to Shreveport on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. We were told that Mom had suffered a massive stroke and a massive heart attack. On Thursday morning, Sept. 8, 2011, at 5:56 am, surrounded by her family, Mom passed away.

Mom was a resident of Sarepta, La., and was employed by Timberland Truck Stop. She had two very special friends whom she loved and deeply cherished, Estelle Grappe, of Springhill, La; and John Knight, of Sarepta, La.

Mom's favorite quote:

"God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference."

"You Never Said Goodbye"

You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

If I could have a lifetime wish
A dream that would come true
I'd pray to God with all my heart
For yesterday and you
A thousand words can't bring you back
I know because I've tried
And neither will a million tears
I know because I've cried
You left behind my broken heart
And happy memories too
I never wanted memories
I only wanted you.

God gave us strength to bear it,
and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you one will ever know.
