The twins, Hans and Harvey, were as opposite as could be. Hans had beautiful dark curly hair and ready to fight with any boy that came along. (see Harvey for additional notes)
Hans did not stay long in Iowa, but traveled west to the Dakotas, Canado, and Minnesota where he met a girl, Carrie Bassett from a family of ten children. Finally, he bought and settled on the Ole Olsen farm. (Olsen and family moved out to the state of Washington.)

Hans Henriksen, 79, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 1949 at the Annex hospital in Friendship, after a long illness.
Mr. Henriksen was born in Nakskor, Loland, Denmark, to Hans and Karen Henriksen on Sept. 12, 1870.
In early manhood he came to America to the farm of his uncle, Ole OLeson, north of Arkdale. Later, he bought the farm and with the exception of a few years spent in Canada, lived the remainder of his life here.
He married Carrie Bassett of Rushmore, Minn., on July 5, 1896.
To this union seven children were born, two of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, five children, Mrs. Lelia Graham of Strongs Prairie, Raymond of Arkdale, Neil and Norton of Wisconsin Rapids and Henry , Friendship.
Thirteen grand children and two great-grandchildren also survive. Three brothers, Ramsey of Anamosa, Iowa, Walter of Arkdale, and a twin brother, Harvey of Milwaukee and one sister, Christine Weylandt of Ontario, California.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Nov. 29, 1949 in the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. R. Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Repose cemetery, Friendship.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Engemoen rendered two lovely songs. Those from away, who attended the funeral were: Harvey Hendriksen and Mrs. John Copilette, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Ellis, Franksville; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hendriksen, Red Granite; Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Henriksen, Oshkosh; Ramsey Henriksen, Anamose, Ia.; Mrs. Lelia Smith and Mr. Lionel Lawrence of St. Paul, Minn.; Morton Bassett of Rushmore, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pameter, Green Lake; Mrs. Fred Kerr of New Lisbon.

Hans Hendrickson Rites on Tuesday
Friendship - Funeral services for Hans Frederickson, 78, retired Arkdale farmer, who died Sunday afternoon here, will be held at the Arkdale Lutheran church at 2 p.m. Tuesdya, with the Rev. Richard O. Johnson officiation. Burial will be in Mount Repose cemetery.
Mr. Hendrickson was born in Denmark on September 12, 1871, the son of Hans Hendrickson. He was married to Miss Carrie Bassett at Rshmore, Minn., July 5, 1896, and they moved to Arkdale in 1910 from Canada.
Survivors include Mrs. Hendrickson; a duaghter, Mrs. Lelia Graham, Strongs Prairie; four sons, Raymond, Neil and Henry, all of Arkdale, and Norton, of Wisconsin Rapids; three brothers Harvey, of California, Ramsey, and Walter, of Strongs Prairie; and one sister, Mrs. Christine Weyland, of California.
