|Birth: ||Mar. 4, 1896|
West Virginia, USA
Virginia was listed as Jennie Coalman on her marriage certificate. She and Emery Ellers were married by a JP on December 14, 1916 in Lawrence County, Ohio. Per the license she was a resident of Ironton, Lawrence, Ohio, but born in West Virginia. She was the daughter of John Coalman and Mary Parsley. Emery was a fireman and a resident of Parkersburg, WV. *** see NOTES below
She was known as Midge to her friends in Taylor County, but was listed as Jennie in the 1920 census in Grafton. In the 1930 census, Emery was listed as single. It is not known when they separated and/or divorced or if they got back together some time after the 1930 census. Virginia and Emery had no children.
I have not yet found documents to prove when and where she died, but she was buried with other Ellers family members in Bluemont Cemetery. The SSDI lists her last residence as Washington, DC.
NOTES - Mary Jane Parsley, born 11/21/1866 in Wayne, WV, was a daughter of Jesse Parsley and his 2nd wife Sally Crum. She married J. B. Williamson on 9/8/1887 in Logan County, WV. He was the son of Hiram Williamson and his wife Liza Ann Johnson. They had married in Wayne County on 7/8/1867 and their son John was born c. 1869. After the death of Hiram, Liza (or Eliza) married William Coalmer and John was listed with them in the 1880 census as John Williamson, son aged 11.
Jennie's birth records says she was born in 1895, rather than the 1896 carved on her gravestone. In addition her surname at birth was Williamson.
Some time later, John B. Williamson began using his stepfather's surname, with various spellings.
