"John N.O. Lynn was born in Canfield township, August 8, 1826. When he was about twenty years of age he and his brother and two sisters began the management of the farm, which he continued for seven years. He afterward moved to Atwater township, Portage county, where he lived eighteen years engaged in farming, which has been his lifelong occupation In April, 1875, he returned to Mahoning county, and has since resided at North Jackson. April 29, 1855, he was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Abraham Moherman, who was born March 15, 1835. They have no children, but are raising two – Chester and Mary. He and his wife are members of the Disciples church."

Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 20 Aug 1897, Article No. 31, by Dr. Jackson Truesdale
Excerpt from the Lynn family:
"We turn our attention now to John, the remaining one of the three brothers who were the first emigrating party of German emigrants to Canfield in 1804. Of him we know still less than of his brothers. Twice we have made a trip to a living daughter for some information only to find her absent. We shall be obliged to be contented with a limited notice. John came here a single man, but at some period not known, Mr. David Lynn informs me, married Fannie Burgett, who bore him the following children namely; John N.O., David second, Fannie, (sic Sallie) married to Joseph Hartman; Elizabeth, to Geo. E. Harding, and Mary, who may have died when young. John N.O., I think, left Canfield when young. He died recently in Jackson in possession of a good estate and the respect of the people of that township."

Mahoning Dispatch Fri. 16 Oct. 1891
"North Jackson - Many Indiana excursionists were pained to learn of the death of John N. O. Lynn of this township, which occurred in their absence. We are fast losing our best citizens in this section."
