INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -Funeral service for Catherine P. "Kitty" Golson, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Main Street United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Michael C. Bell and the Rev. Cheryl L. Rhodes. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at Shives Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 1830 Main St., Columbia, SC 29201.
Mrs. Golson, widow of C. Howard Golson, died Sunday, May 6, 2001 at her residence. Born in 1925 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Mamie Wilhalf Prince and Harry H. Prince. Mrs. Golson moved to Indian Trail, N.C. in 1998. She retired from the University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy after 32 years of service and was a memberof the Administrative Employees Club at the University of South Carolina. She was a life-long member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Columbia, SC. Mrs. Golson was a member of the Friendship Class, The Guild, Friday Night Supper Club, Coffee Club, and the United Methodist Women of Main Street United Methodist Church. She served for many years on the Worship Committee and the Kitchen Crew at Main Street United Street United Methodist Church. In Mrs. Golson's younger years, she taught a Sunday school class in the Intermediate Department of Main Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of the King's Daughters and Sons and served for many years on the South Carolina Branch Board of the King's Daughters and Sons. Mrs. Golson was a Charter and Honorary member of the Columbia Dirtdauber Camping Club and a member of the What Cha' Doin' Club at Earlewood Park in Columbia.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia "Pat" Siple of Charlotte, her son and daughter-in-law, Carter and Beth Golson of Indian Trail; grandchildren, Genesis Otero of Greenville, Cristie Golson of Columbia, Alex Golson and Holly Robinson, both of Indian Trail; great-grandaughter, Ayla Madison Parker of Greenville.
