Reno T. Giapponi, 81, 0f Cook Hill Road, Wallingford, Connecticut, beloved husband of Audrey (Wood) Giapponi, died at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford.

Born in Wallingford, a son of the late Hugo and Corrine (Pompaloni) Giapponi, he had been a lifelong Wallingford resident. He had been employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in Wallingford, retiring in 1987 as a General Supervisor of Quality Control, after 44 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Army Air Corps in the Western Pacific on the Tinian Islands with the 39th Bombardment Group.

Besides his wife, Audrey, he is survived by his daughter, Christine A. Bayless and her husband Ronald of Lancaster, OH; his three sons, Thomas R. Giapponi and his wife Mary of Lancaster, OH, Robert R. Giapponi and his wife Catherine of Wallingford and David J. Giapponi and his wife Therese of Thomaston; eight grandchildren, Caelie Giapponi, Kate Giapponi, Brian Giapponi, Melissa Bayless, Allison Bayless, Kristen Giapponi, Nicolas Giapponi and Michael Giapponi and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Leah Winter and a brother, Bruno Giapponi.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Most Holy Trinity Church. Interment, with military honors.
