Robert Edward Crissman, 78, of Lawsonham Road, Rimersburg, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, in his home following an illness of two and a half years.
Born Oct. 4, 1929, in Templeton, Armstrong County, he was the son of the late William Homer Crissman and Vee Elizabeth Hawthorne Crissman.
He attended Hawkville School in Madison Township, Armstrong County. Mr. Crissman first was employed at the brickyard in Tarrtown near Kittanning and then became a self-employed trucker, hauling for McCleary Christie Trucking Co.
He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Crissman played the guitar and sang in a country western band known as "Country Time." He enjoyed antique car shows, NASCAR racing and baseball. Mr. Crissman was married in Knox Aug. 18, 1973, to the former Kathy M. Coachman, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Troy M. Crissman and wife, Dawnann, of Pittsburgh, Dallas Crissman and wife, Debra, of Punxsutawney and Terry Crissman of Reynoldsville; three daughters, Sharon Petruny and husband, Richard, of Sheffield, Patty Hopper and husband, Chester, of New Bethlehem and Tammy King and husband, John Jr., of Indiana, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by a half brother, Paul H. "Blaze" Cobbett of Ford City; one sister, Ruby Cobbett and husband, Harvey, of Templeton RD 2; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. James Swogger, pastor of the Oakland Church of God, and Pastor Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice chaplain, officiating. Private interment will be in Duncan Cemetery, Armstrong County.
