His first name can also be spelled Manoug, Manouk, or Manook, he also used Michael. A death record gives his year of birth as 1841, but that is likely far too old. A family tree gives his birth year as 1859 which is more likely. The names of his parents are not known but he had a brother Zakar who went to America ahead of him in 1891. Manoog married Sirma / Surma Gamarekian in 1884. He emigrated to the United States in 1893 at which time he had daughters Yeghsa (Elizabeth) and Satenig (Sadie), and after his departure a son Gabriel (later known as Frank Taylor) was born. Manoog returned to Turkey at one point and then went back to the United States for good in July 1899, with the plan for his family to follow soon after. After his departure, Surma gave birth to their daughter Nevart (Rose) in early 1900, and then left for America with the children towards the end of the year, joining him in Milford, Massachusetts. In 1905 the family was living in Massachusetts and gave birth to a son Jacob there.

The family moved to Philadelphia in the following years. At Manoog's death he lived at 4056 Market Street. He had worked as a molder. His last name could also be spelled Capegian, Capeghian, Kapeghian, etc. He died of liver cancer. His grave is unmarked. It is located in the space to the right of the Taylor stone, which is seen under the bush at the left edge of this picture. Located to the left of the Taylor stone just out of picture is the unmarked grave of his daughter Sadie Kapigian Aslanian.
