Elvin Kenneth Bryant was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 21, 1924 to Elvin and Jessie Bryant. In 1942 he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School where he played bassoon in the band.
At an early age Ken Discovered "ham radio" and became an operator, a hobby he enjoyed over 50 years.
After high school Ken attended Olivet Nazarene College, graduating in 1947. While at Olivet, a dark-haired beauty named Jean Shearer caught his eye and they married Nov. 20, 1947. To their union two children were born.
He was a proud grandparent! One sister,survives him.
Ken pastored churches in South Dakota, Washington, the Fourth Plain Church of the Nazarene, Vancouver, WA, and Visalia First Church.
After retirement he continued to minister, most recently at Day Spring Community Nazarene Church.
He enjoyed several hobbies; piano, organ, accordian, singing duos with his wife, Jean. He developed an early fascination with flying and received his pilots license. Logging over 3,000 hours.
One of his greatest achievements and part of his legacy are the thousands of people he has reached and ministered to by his well-known radio broadcasts, "Songs in the Night" and "Night Watch," for over 40 years.
Memorial service was 4pm, Sunday November 12, 2006 at Church of the Nazarene 3333 West Caldwell, Visalia. Arrangements handled by the Smith Family Chapel, Exeter.
