Denver J. Burns, 81, of Ironton, died Thursday at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus.

The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 10, 1921, the son of the late George Washington Burns and Adaline Crabtree Burns. He was the husband of Juanita Christian Burns, who survives.

He was a retired mill foreman for the Lone Star Cement Co., formerly the Marquette Cement Co., and a World War II Army engineer veteran.

He graduated from Pedro High School, was a member of Elm Street Church of the Nazarene and lived all his life in Ironton.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, James Michael Burns of Ironton' one daughter, Rebecca Sue Burns of Columbus' one granddaughter, Amy Dawn Burns' and one sister, Esta Davidson or Ironton.

He was preceded in death by a son, George David Burns' three brothers John E. Burns, Robert Burns and Henry Burns' four sisters, Bertha Willis, Nellie Davidson, Dolly Jones and Mary O'Brian; and a granddaughter Christina Rae Burns.

Graveside service will be 11am Monday at Woodland Cemetery, with the Revs Charles Lane and Clell Elliott officiating.
