James B. Webb, 93, formerly of Jackson, Mississippi, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at his Florida home.
Visitation will be held at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb, Mississippi, from 5 to 7 pm today. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 1 pm with burial at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.
Mr. Webb was the son of Winchester M. and Frances Smith Webb. He was born in Fernwood, Mississippi, on March 22, 1916.
He is preceeded in death by his wife of 67 years, Wilda Stokes Webb; his son, Joseph Webb; and his sister, Beulah Lanier.
Mr. Webb retired as a project engineer from the ICG Railroad in 1981. Until he moved to Florida in 1999 he was an independent land surveyor.
Most importantly he was a believer in Jesus Christ as his Saviour and is with Him now.
He is survived by his daughter, Jimmie Tensfield and her husband, Bob; his daughter Fran Davies and her husband, Gareth; and his daughter-in-law, Joan Webb. He has six grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandchild. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins loved him dearly.
He was gentle, intelligent, and fascinating individual who was loved and respected by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the McComb Railroad Museum, McComb, MS 39648.
