Melvin Joseph Boudreau - 90, Pictou, passed away peacefully November 24, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow,
surrounded by his family. Born in Petit De Grat on July 31, 1921, he was a son of the late Remi and Mida Boudreau.He moved to Pictou in 1958, and spent many years as Chief Steward with the
Department of Oceanography (Acadia) and the Department of Fisheries(Chebucto and Cygnus), before working with Pictou Industries, and retiring as Commissionaire at Kimberly Clarke. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served in Europe. An avid Toronto Maples Leafs fan, he enjoyed watching hockey. His self-taught skill of playing a "tune" on the harmonica
will be greatly missed. He always enjoyed having a houseful of people around and always had a special place in his heart for family and friends.
Melvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be sadly missed by the love of his life for 63 years, Edith (Dorey); sons: Stephen (Brenda), Royden (Angela), New Glasgow; Calvin, New Minas; grandchildren: Ryan (Mikal) Boudreau, Stephanie (Nick) Porter, Kelly Boudreau, Natalie (Peter) Fraser, Amanda Boudreau, and Corey (Kayla) Boudreau; great-grandchildren, Connor and Adam; many nephews and nieces; step-sisters, Clara Delorey and Eleanor Ryan. He was predeceased by brothers, Remi and Francis; and sister, Mildred Forgeron.
Melvin had great faith and was a member of Stella Maris Parish, Pictou. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #16, Pictou, and the
Knights of Columbus. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Saturday, November 26th in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will take place 3:30 p.m. Sunday, November 27th from Stella Maris Roman Catholic
Church, Pictou, with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, the Pictou County V.O.N., or charity of your choice.
