Griffin was my oldest son's dog. When he moved to a place that did not allow pets we inherited Griffin (formerly named Athena). She was half boxer and half border collie. In short she was a wonderful dog. I am a cat person not really a dog person but she won me over.
She flunked Obedience School 3 times all on the "stay" command. My husband had her out in the driveway. He had a fistful of hotdogs. They were working on the sit/stay thing. A red convertible filled with teenage boys drove very very slowly by my study window. Following the car was a gaggle of giggly teenage girls. Griffin took one look at the group of girls and took out for them. She circled them in the traditional border collie herding instinct. The girls were shrieking. My husband was yelling "Don't yell. It will make her run faster." The dog circled the girls. My husband circled the girls. Drivers were stopped on both sides bent over their steering wheels laughing till they cried. I just looked out and saw the chaos and closed my shade saying "Never saw either of them before".
