Thetford Center - Clarence E. Goodrich, 76, of Thetford Center died on Jan. 3, 1990 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in White River Jct. He was born March 26, 1913 in Bath, the son of Peter and Florence (Riley) Goodrich.
He attended elementary school in Bradford as well as Bradford Academy. On Sept. 10, 1937 in Piermont, Mr. Goodrich married the former Lillian J. Harris who survives. He and his wife moved to Thetford in 1943 and have made their home on Tucker Hill since 1956.
His early yars were spent working in the Strafford Copper Mines and he later worked as a carpenter for Buster Banker.Most recently he was employed by the Vermont Department of Highways. Mr. Goodrich served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Thetford American Legion Post #79.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Russell L. Goodrich of Highland Falls, N.H., William C. Goodrich of Hanover and Peter A. Goodrich of West Topsham; four daughters, Florence M. Bailey of Thetford Center, Pamela J. Goodrich of Nashua, N.H., Cindy Howland of Post Mills and Wendy L. Harrisof Georgia, Vt.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two half sisters, Mildred Presby of Lyman, NH and Rosalie Carter of Lyme; three brothers, Walter, Warren and George Goodrich predeceased him.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 7 in the Timothy Frost Methodist Church, Route 113, Thetford Center. The Rev. Martin R. Fors, Pastor, officiated. Entombment followed in the Sawyer Tomb in Bradford awaiting spring burial in the Evergreen Rest Cemetery in Thetford Center.
Donations in Mr. Goodrich's memory may be made to the Veteran's Administration Hospital Patient Activities Fund at the Veteran's Administration Center in White River Jct. Vt. 05001. The Hale Funeral Home of Thetford Center was in charge of arrangements.
