HASKEL HUGHES, age 73, of the Murl Community of Wayne County, Kentucky
passed away Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at the VA Medical Center in
He was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on July 31, 1926, the son of
William and Lady Phipps Hughes. Both parents preceded him in death.
On February 12, 1947, he married Edna Harris Hughes, who survives.
He is survived by 2 children Danny Hughes and Jack Hughes both of Murl,
Kentucky; 1 brother Ervin Hughes of Murl, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren; and
2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother Glen Riley Hughes and 1 son Roger
He served his country during and after World War II, serving in the
Signal Corps of the U. S. Army at the general headquarters of the
occupational forces in Tokyo, Japan, from 1945-1947. He was a farmer
all of his life and a graduate of Wayne County High School.
He was a member of Rectors Flat Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 20, 1999 at 1 P.M. in the
funeral home chapel with Brother Larry Foster officiating. Burial was
in Old Charity Cemetery.
