Zona Mae Mosshart Brown was born to John P Mosshart and Edith M Beeton April 7, 1927 in Alva, Ok. Her grandparents the Beeton's and Mosshart's both had a homestead following the Cherokee Strip Land Rush in 1893. Before she was born, her parents went to her grandpa Mosshart home and there she was born. The story goes while they were there a bad storm came up and all the creeks rose and the doctor was detain, but arrived in time. Her grandparents were one of the first pioneers to settle Alva and Hopeton, OK in 1893. Both grandparents are buried in the Union Cemetery near Decoma, OK.
