Funeral service for Mr. Marvin Weaver "Bud" Johnson, 83, of Alexander City, will be Monday, October 8, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the Alexander City First United Methodist Church. Dr. Todd Henderson, Rev. Clyde Coker, and Mr. Jimmy Wade will officiate. Burial will follow in the Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery in Notasulga at 4:30 pm with honors provided by the Alabama State Troopers. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at his residence. He was born on November 17, 1928 in Notasulga, Alabama to Willie Marvin Johnson and Carolyn Weaver Johnson. He was a member of the Alexander City First United Methodist Church. Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army Veteran and fought in the Korean War. He was an Alabama State Trooper for 33 years and retired in 1981. Mr. Johnson was very independent and enjoyed staying busy with hobbies such as woodworking and was a member of The Coffee Club.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Jennifer Jones (Wesley) of Birmingham; grandson, David Lee Johnson, Jr. of Alexander City; daughter-in-law, Mary Carlisle Johnson of Alexander City; great-grandchildren, Nolan Argo Johnson, Nellie Carlisle Johnson, David Lee Johnson, III, Natalie Danielle Jones, and Matthew Houston Jones; sisters, Mary Charles Calloway of Montgomery, Bonnie Helms (Robert) of Prattville, and Betty Jean Ennis of Montgomery;
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loette King Johnson; his parents; son, David Lee Johnson, Sr.; sisters, Ann Chastain, Judy Clayton, and Bobbie Edwards; brothers, Cecil Ray Johnson, Tommy Johnson, and Andy Johnson.
The family will accept flowers or donations can be made to the charity of ones choice.
