Mr. John L. Foster
Funeral service for Mr. John L. "Lec" Foster, 87, of Alexander City, will be Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home with veteran's honors provided by the Alexander City Veteran's Honor Guard. Bro. John David Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Foster passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Chapman Healthcare Center. He was born on September 16, 1924 in Coosa County, Alabama to William Harvey Foster and Clercie Bell Strickland Foster. He was a member of Alex City Church of Christ. Mr. Foster served in the U.S. Naval Air Force as a Mechanic during WWII. Later, he was an Alabama State Trooper for 25 years from 1952-1977 and then worked for Alabama Power for 10 years in Security. He was a member of the Burger King Coffee Club and enjoyed fishing, working on small engine repairs, and fixing things for people. Mr. Foster loved his grandchildren and especially loved hearing about all they had gotten into.
He is survived by his daughter, Kay Tapley (John) of Jackson's Gap; son, Ronnie Foster (Mary) of Opelika; grandchildren, Tippy Hunter (Tommy), Brad Foster (Leigh), Brian Foster (Anna), and Reid Tapley; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Foster, Briann Foster, Olivia Foster, Brooks Foster, Emma Tapley, and Hank Hunter; and sister, Marjorie Caldwell of Sylacauga.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cladie Ruth Foster; his parents; and sister, Louise Holmes.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one's choice.
