Melvin Walker was born May 20, 1892 to Steve and Alice (Bell) Walker. Mel served in WWI as a corporal in the Army and was awarded the bronze medal. He was married to Edna Rogers, daughter of Willard and Mattie Rogers on Feb 15, 1923. The couple had five children - Doris, Martha, Russell, Warren and Delmar, who died as an infant.
He was a member of the Brown Cumberland Presbyterian Church located west of Mt. Erie, IL and was an elder and Suday School superintendant for many years. He was a member of the Fairfield American Legion and VFW.
Mel died on july 6, 1982.
