Sugar was adopted in August of 2006, from our local ferret shelter. She lived up to her name, and then some...one of the sweetest little souls I ever knew.
Sugar developed cancer, one of the the most frequent causes of death in these incredible little love bugs. We cheated death for a long time, chemo saved Sugar and she lived happy and healthy for another two years - a very good outcome in ferret time. Chemo given to ferrets does not make them ill, as it does in humans, so she breezed through her weeks of treatment.
Sugar loved us and she showed it with cuddles and kisses. I will always miss you...
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle , easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan..."

"The Once and Again Prince"
