Birth: Mar. 9, 1902
Death: Mar. 25, 1982

Harold is the son of Joseph Julius DeMarsh and Ruby Fowler DeMarsh. Joseph married Ruby Ursula Fowler and they had three children before Ruby died in 1903. Joseph then married Sarah Rebecca Little. After two infant deaths they had two living children. The entire family of five was living in OK near Tulsa when Joseph disappeared. He would work in Tulsa during the week and go home on weekends. He left for work one week and was never seen or heard from again, leaving his young wife with five children to support and no means of income. Sarah was heartbroken but had to find homes or give the children up - Freida Dorothy DeMarsh she found a home for with her paternal aunt in Detroit, MI. Freida grew up and married Lawrence Snediker, having three children with him. Harold DeMarsh and Vincent DeMarsh she could not find homes for and had to relinguish them to an orphanage. Harold found a home but Vincent did not. Both boys continued to keep in touch with Sarah over the years, she was the mother they knew and loved as their own had died when they were so young. Vincent's paternal grandfather (Joseph's father)was Augustus DeMarsh who was born in France and immigrated to USA about 1845. His grandmother was Maria Bratt DeMarsh who was born in New York.

Harold won the National AAU Wrestlng Championship in 1926. In 1928 while a student at Oklahoma A&M, wrestling in the 111 pound weight classification, he helped his team win the first ever NCAA Wrestling Championship. Harold was one of four Oklahoma A&M wrestlers to wind individual titles. Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University at Stillwater, OK has won 30 NCAA Wrestling Championships, far more than any other college, including both the heralded Iowa colleges. He later won numerous state wrestling championships. He served in the US Navy during WW II where he taught judo and karate at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. (His NCCA championship was confirmed by the NCAA Headquarters Wrestling Assn, who also provided the list of 30 National Wrestling Championships won by Oklahoma A&M and Oklahoma State).
