Son of Robert Carlton "Tex" Wilson and Lillian (Glenn) Wilson. Brother of Gail Wilson.
Honors Graduate of Akron Central-Hower High School in 1976.
A musical prodigy from the age of five, he played piano at the Woolworths store in the Wooster-Hawkins Shopping Center during the Christmas season when only eight years old. He was organist at the Mount Zion Baptist Church School for 30 years.
I met Don while 'graving' as he lived next door to one of the cemeteries I frequently visited. He walked up to the fence and hailed me and we chatted for quite awhile. I ran into him frequently and we always had the most interesting talks. While at the cemetery he insisted on helping me move gravestones back into place that the mowers has dislocated: "Those are too heavy for you Missy - let me do it." He used to pop into my place of business and it always made me smile to see him walk through the door. He always wore his trademark cowboy hat and would say funny things to make me laugh. I even enjoyed his silly Elvis imitations. Don was a gentleman and a sweetheart and I will always miss him.
