Born in Meriden, November 14, 1946, son of Pasqualina "Pat" (DeBaise) Valenti, of Wallingford and the late Joseph J. Valenti, he had been a lifelong Wallingford resident. He and his wife were co-owners of J & L Vintage Sales LLC of Wallingford. He was also a co-owner of the former Wallingford Cycle & Snowmobile, and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Wallingford.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis M. and John J. Elengo of Cheshire; three nieces, his godchild, Christina E. Fournier and her husband Eric M. of Wallingford, Andrea E. Fletcher and her husband George of Cheshire and Melissa Blasco Walden and her husband Duane of New Hampshire; a nephew, Daniel A. Blasco and his wife Kim of Middletown; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ernest A. and Irene (Summerson) Spiess of Bristol; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda (Spiess) Blasco and her husband David of Middletown; and many loving cousins, friends and neighbors.
Joe touched the lives of many Rupp motorcycle fans and enthusiasts across the nation….and in some cases around the world, such as his friendship with Owen in Korea and several customers in Canada. Most Rupp fans never had the benefit of meeting Joe in person. For those of us that did, we are grateful.
Juggling between the never ending phone calls for parts and working on some project bikes the man knew everything about Rupp bikes inside out. He was a perfectionist to say the least. He was always exchanging ideas and solutions to continue his quest towards recreating the perfect Rupp.
