Our oldest Citizen Gone
Isam Henson, the oldest citizen of Franklin County died at his home on Indian Creek, in the southern part of the county, Friday, November 20,1896, aged 96 years, 10 months, 20 days.
Isam Henson was born in Nashville, Tenn. Jan, 1 1800. In early manhood he moved to Illinois and resided there a few years. He next moved to Hillsboro, Jefferson County, Mo. where he remained until about 1850, when he removed to Franklin county and located on the farm where he has since lived and where he died. He raised a large family and furnished several sons for the Union Army during the rebellion. His direct descendants number about one hundred . We regret not having more facts and incidents of this remarkable life.
The remains were laid to rest last Sunday after a long and eventual pilgrimage of nearly a century in Prospect cfhurch cemetery, Rev A M Todd conducting the services.
