Mary Lou Peterman, 72, of Mount Pleasant died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Henry County Health Center.

Born April 11, 1933, in Fairfield, she was the daughter of Clair and Mary Elizabeth Babcock Dunbar. On Dec. 27, 1957, she married Richard Peterman in Cambridge, Ill. They later divorced.

Ms. Peterman worked as a key punch operator at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and later worked for Mitchell Engineering (CECO Building Systems). For 17 years she worked as a computer technician for Motorola, retiring in 2001.

She grew up in Lockridge and was a 1951 graduate of Lockridge High School. She was a member of Faith Christian Outreach Church and was a former board member of the Fellowship Cup, where she remained active in that organization. She was known for her cooking and baking and had baked cookies for high school commencements for several years. She also catered special events.

Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Graber of Des Moines, Becky James of Indianapolis and Cindy Peterman of Olathe, Kan.; three sons, Rich Peterman of Leavenworth, Kan., Danny Peterman of Lees Summit, Mo., and John Peterman of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; two great–grandchildren; three sisters, JoAnne Vorhies and Clarice Dunbar, both of Fairfield, and Chris Hanson of New London; and two brothers, Bill Dunbar of Fairfield and John Dunbar of Newark, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Olson–Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Ms. Peterman will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Christian Outreach Church, with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Mills Cemetery.
