Mose Long was a son of Richard B. and Cora Ann (Smith) Long, the firstborn of nine children. According to the August 17, 1911 edition of the Lebanon Patriot, Mose died of typhoid after an illness of about two weeks. His obituary in that publication has his name given as Moses J. Long.
