LOREN E. DULING
July 4, 1942 - May 19, 2005
Loren E. Duling, 62, Kokomo, was called home to Heaven at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005, from Howard Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 4, 1942, in Grant County, he was a son of Meredith Earl and Dortha June (Skinner) Duling. On March 21, 1971, in Peru, he married Dollie Marie (Ennis) Duling and she survives.
He was a 1965 graduate of Oak Hill High School and attended Olivet University in Kankakee, Ill. He retired from the Air Force in 1997 as a master sergeant. He had served in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. He retired in May 2005 from DaimlerChrysler Corporation.
He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where he served as a lector and eucharistic minister and had been active in Christ Renews His Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Belle Chase, La., and the Noncommissioned Officers Association.
He loved fishing, hunting, being outdoors and watching nature, especially birds. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed basketball and Colts football. He adored his family and was a devoted, patient and loving grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving with his wife of Kokomo, are his parents, Meredith and June Duling, Wawpecong; five children and their spouses, Dennis and Diane Wray, St. Pete, Fla., Donald and Janice Wray, Noblesville, David Wray and Sarah Begley, Peru, Pete and Gayle Wray, Redlands, Calif., and Debbie and Pete Rahe, Wasilla, Alaska; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Ethan Wray and Josh Wray, both of St. Pete, Fla., Missy and Jeff Howell, and Shannon Fleck, all of Peru, Kraig Wray, Crofton, Md., Jessica Wray, Noblesville, Shane Wray, Chicago, Ill., Jason Wray, Indianapolis, Amanda Wray and Bryan Wray, both of Peru, Joshua Wray and Ashlyn Wray, both of Redlands, Calif., Zachariah and Stacey Rahe, Dayton, Ohio, and CerrissiKoah Rahe, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jordan, Kaitilyn, Tanner and Jacob Howell, McKenzi and Hana Fleck; one brother, Jerry Duling, Wawpecong; one brother-in-law, Don and wife Annie Ennis, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Jane and husband Fred Tragesser, Kokomo; a special nephew and two nieces and their spouses whom he loved as his own children, Mark and Johanna Arseneau, Aurora, Ill., Cathy and Steve Dezlan, Kokomo, Michelle and Tim Mort, Westchester, Ohio; several loving nieces and nephews; and two special Bechon kids, Sugar and Bear.
Loren has now joined his beloved granddaughter, Katie Wray, in Heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S 200 W., with military honors provided by the Air Force. The Rev. Dennis J. O'Keeffe will officiate. Private burial will be in Everest Cemetery of Logansport. Friends man call one hour prior to the service Monday at the church and from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church Vision to Reality Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
