Second Lieutenant Cassetta served with the 333rd Bomb Group, 468th Bomb Squadron as a Navigator. He was one of six airmen killed when the B-17F Flying Fortress #42-30905 crashed, eight miles southwest of the Dalhart Army Air Base, Texas. Also killed were: 2nd Lt. Willard Blatz, 2nd Lt. Roy M. Chase, 2nd Lt. Wister A. Fox, Sgt. Albert Sharf Av.Cadet John E. Savoie.
