Graves For Buddies Killed At Opposite Ends Of The World Dug..Four Mile,Ky June 17,1948....
Two graves were being dug today for two WWII veterans,school chums,who were killed at opposite ends of the earth
The bodies of Richard Smith who was killed in the European Theater, and Shirley West who died in the Pacific Theater, were both returned to their homes.
Bennett Asher Post #10? American Legion will hold military funerals at both graves. Smith's funeral was held at 10 a.m.today,and West's will be held at 1 p.m.Saturday.
Richard Smith was the son of Mrs.Sally France(?). Shirley is the son of Mr.& Mrs.James West( Maggie Shaw- my note). Both attended Lone Jack High School before entering the (?) forever... KIA,WWII, Listed on a memorial in Bell County,Ky for soldiers in the area KIA..awarded the Purple Heart..CPL 106 INF 27 INF DIV,WWII
